Stress First Aid (SFA) for Healthcare Workers was developed by Drs. Patricia Watson and Richard Westphal as an adaptation to the original program designed for military populations.

While a veterinary specific protocol has not yet been developed using the SFA program, the teachings can be adapted to veterinary team environments. Using the stress continuum displayed here, veterinary professionals can check on their stress zone and also ask their coworkers and teams about which stress zone they are experiencing.
